Twitter Policy

Thank you for visiting the official Ontario Emergency Public Warning System Twitter page (@OntarioWarnings).

Please note that this account should not be used to report emergencies or anything that requires a response. Please call 9-1-1 or your local emergency response number to report an emergency.

The @OntarioWarnings Twitter account is managed by Emergency Management Ontario and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services Communications Branch.

Availability

@OntarioWarnings will post emergency information related to the issuance of Red Alerts, Emergency Information Advisories and Tornado Warnings. During an emergency, the @OntarioWarnings account will be monitored and updated as required.

From time to time, we may post general information and tips on emergency preparedness.

Twitter may occasionally be unavailable and we are not responsible for lack of service.

If you follow @OntarioWarnings, we will not necessarily follow you back. Being followed by us does not imply endorsement of any kind.

Please don’t send us personal information when responding to @OntarioWarnings tweets or when sending other communications to us through Twitter. Any personal information received through the @OntarioWarnings Twitter account will be treated as a communication by you through the Government of Ontario’s website and will be handled by us in accordance with the Government of Ontario’s website Privacy Statement.

@Replies and Direct Messages

We will endeavour to read all @replies and Direct Messages sent to us and, when possible, will respond to them in their language of origin.
