TORNADO WARNINGS

Please note that EMO no longer issues severe thunderstorm warnings as of July 27, 2012. This decision was based on feedback that the high frequency of severe thunderstorm warnings had inundated subscribers, potentially minimizing the impact of tornado warnings. EMO will continue to issue tornado warnings, and is committed to warning Ontarians of tornado related risks and protective actions to keep people safe.

Alerts
The province distributes Tornado Warnings through a partnership with Environment Canada, which issues these warnings. They contain information on what Ontarians can do to protect themselves.

Subscription Method
Select the subscription method(s) in which you wish to receive Severe Weather Warnings.
Enter your email address in the Contact Information section.
Complete all three fields in the Contact Information section. You are required to enter an email address in order to receive an email message to confirm your subscription. You will not receive email Alerts if you did not sign up for them.

Why is my service provider not listed?

There are over 200 hundred service providers within Canada and the US. We have chosen the most common service providers that have email to SMS gateways. Some Canadian service providers that currently DO NOT offer an email to SMS gateway include:

  • Mobilicity
  • Public Mobile
  • Chatr Wireless

How This Service Works

After you subscribe you will receive an email message from warnings@ontario.ca to confirm your subscription.

Unsubscribe

Click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Emergency Management Ontario Severe Weather Warning email.
