NUCLEAR PREPAREDNESS

Ontario is well prepared to respond to a nuclear emergency.

The Provincial Nuclear Emergency Response Plan [PDF] outlines actions to be taken in the event of an incident at one of Ontario’s three nuclear power generating stations, Chalk River Laboratories and Michigan’s Enrico Fermi Nuclear Generating Station. The plan also addresses a variety of other potential events, including those occurring outside of Ontario.

While the probability of a serious accident at one of these facilities is very low, those living or working within 10 km of a nuclear facility are encouraged to learn what to do in the event an incident occurs.
