Strathroy Celebrates EP Week with U.S. Neighbours
On May 5, Emergency Management Ontario (EMO) Chief Dan Hefkey joined Rick Beazley, Chief of Police in Strathroy, in the lead car in the parade to kick off the 20th Annual International Emergency Response Day.
More than 40 vehicles, including vintage patrol cars, fire trucks, police cruisers, ambulances, motorcycles and other emergency vehicles wound their way through Strathroy to Gemini Sportsplex, where dozens of displays and interactive activities were on exhibit.
The event attracted 10 visiting U.S. agencies from Michigan and Ohio, making this year’s event one of the biggest ever.
Approximately 1,000 local elementary and high school students visited the displays and demonstrations with hundreds taking EMO’s Emergency Preparedness Challenge.
