EP Week 2010 and Campaign Kick-Off Event
On May 3, more than 500 people attended the joint launch of Emergency Preparedness Week and the 2010 Campaign at the Xeriscape Garden across from Queen’s Park. In attendance was the Honorable Rick Bartolucci, Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, who officially launched the Campaign – “Take the Challenge”. Joining the Minister for the ceremony were Emergency Management Ontario’s Chief Dan Hefkey and Heather Mack from Insurance Bureau of Canada.
Master of Ceremonies Cam Woolley of CP24 News kept the crowd energized throughout the afternoon, including assisting with a friendly emergency survival kit race between a Girl Guide and a Scout.
More than a dozen ministries and organizations had displays on hand. Throughout the day, attendees also had the opportunity to “Take the Challenge” at Emergency Management Ontario’s display kiosk.
