Incident Management System
Consistent with internationally recommended practices, Ontario has developed an Incident Management System (IMS) that provides standardized organizational structures, functions, processes and terminology for use at all levels of emergency response in Ontario. IMS addresses the need for coordinated responses to all types of incidents and has been developed with input from more than 30 emergency response organizations from Ontario.

IMS is a standardized approach to emergency management, recommended for managing all incidents. It guides how personnel, facilities, equipment, procedures, and communications may be coordinated during an incident.

IMS training is applicable to all responders in Ontario and available free of charge in both English and French.
